Directions
For bowel calm can be given to adults and children (from 3 years old upwards) with the following recommendations:

For diarrhoea, take 1 or 2 capsules depending on severity of symptoms, and up to 4 capsules per day, or as professionally directed.

For Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), take 1 capsule twice a day.

For Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) eg. Ulcerative Colitis, Diverticulitis, Crohn's Disease, take 3 capsules a day.

For recurrent Clostridium difficile infection, take 2 capsules twice a day.

For Candida Overgrowth, take 3 capsules twice a day.
NB: For young children or any patient unable to swallow capsules, the content of the capsules can be mixed with a cold meal or beverage.
Background Information
Diarrhoea can be defined as an increase in the frequency and amount of loose stools. It can be caused by a virus or bacteria - usually due to the ingestion of contaminated drinking water, undercooked meat and eggs or poor standards of hygiene.
If these situations occur, the body's reaction to the pathogens is twofold - it introduces large amounts of fluid into the large intestines, and makes the intestines more active by contracting frequently in order to flush out irritable micro-organisms, resulting in diarrhoea.
Drugs such as Loperamide work by preventing muscle contractions in order to stop diarrhoea, but these medicines do not remove the harmful bacteria from the body.
Safety
It is not recommended to give probiotics to severely immunosuppressed patients, post cardiac surgery patients, patients with pancreatitis, patients with Type 1 diabetes, patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or patients with blood in the stool unless under a doctor’s care.
